Nursing global links with Egypt

Two staff members from New College Lanarkshire, Nicola Mulholland and Hazel Scott, travelled to Mansoura National University in Egypt – as part of an ongoing international partnership.

Funding for the visit was by the Scottish Education Exchange Programme through the Scottish Government. The trip marked the latest step in a growing reciprocal relationship following a successful visit by Mansoura National University colleagues to NCL in October 2025.

The delegation was hosted by Professor Raefa R. Allam, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Mansoura National University along with her team. Discussions centred on expanding mutually beneficial collaboration in key areas including Dental Nursing, Brain Health and Care of the Elderly – fields identified as strategic priorities for both institutions.

As part of the visit, Mulholland and Scott toured the Faculty of Nursing’s advanced clinical skills and simulation laboratories, which displays the Egyptian university’s commitment to health education and its wider strategic vision for global partners.

Hazel Scott, said: “We’re looking forward to continuing our discussions and strengthening this partnership in the future”.

The NCL representatives were also received by Professor Doctor Sherif Y. Khater, President of Mansoura National University.

He reaffirmed the university’s dedication to building robust international partnerships that champion competency-based education and globally recognised academic standards.
