Principal appointed Deputy Lieutenant

The Lord Lieutenant, Lady Susan Haughey, bestowed the position of Deputy Lieutenant for Lanarkshire on Professor Moore at a ceremony at our Motherwell Campus earlier today.

Lady Haughey explained the duties of the position, including attending 100th birthday parties in Lanarkshire and overseeing citizenship ceremonies.

Professor Christopher Moore said he was deeply moved and delighted to take up the role. He said: “I’m moved to have this opportunity to do this for Lanarkshire, and for our college and show the strength of community here. I’m delighted to accept this honour.”

Lady Haughey joked that she "can't wait to mark the quality of Christopher's work!"

Deputy Lieutenants are recommended by the Lord Lieutenant and appointed if approved by the Monarch.
