Sureserve up free breakfasts for students
Thousands of New College Lanarkshire (NCL) students will receive free breakfasts after a generous gift to the college by Sureserve Energy Services UK.
The company, the UK’s largest retrofit organisation, has made a £5000 donation to provide free breakfasts for a month for around 3500 students as part of its commitment to training the Lanarkshire workforce of the future.
Sureserve signed an agreement with the college last year to collaborate on ensuring the Region has the skilled labour force required to meet Net Zero targets.
Robert Stirling, Managing Director of Sureserve Energy Services UK Limited, said: “As we continue to grow, we need to ensure our workforce has the skills to succeed. And that success starts with a healthy start to the day. We are proud to support the NCL Foundation in a way that provides immediate, tangible value to the students.”
Professor Christopher Moore, Principal of New College Lanarkshire, said: “Through Sureserve’s generosity, we are ensuring all our students are ready to learn each day. This donation shows that Sureserve’s leadership is committed to creating real social value within our local communities.”
They are also planning a social enterprise to sit between NCL and Sureserve to offer paid work to students, Stirling urged students to 'ambitious and work hard' to make the most of what they are offering.
Explaining the company to students gathered in the Wellbeing Academy, he said: "We take and assist people out of fuel poverty, we take the equivalent of 164,000 cars of the road with carbon removal." They then went in to a Q&A with the students.
Sureserve is a market leader in energy efficiency and safety and is currently working with NCL on Modern Apprenticeships, accredited upskilling and digital learning via The Learning Well.
