Course overview

Study the BAcc Accounting at New College Lanarkshire in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). Develop the advanced accounting, finance and professional skills sought by employers through practical learning and industry-informed teaching. Covering financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, auditing and financial management, this degree prepares you for a successful career in accounting and finance.

Shape the sound of music, film, TV and games.

From chart-ready mixes to cinematic soundscapes, sound professionals make audiences feel what they hear. This practical degree, accredited by the University of the West of Scotland, takes your HND skills to the next level in our Cumbernauld studios.

You'll work on industry-style projects across modules including Immersive Sound, Creative Studio Techniques, Sound for Visual Arts, and Collaborative and Specialist Industry Projects, while teaming up with our BA Music Performance students.

It's a growing field: Scotland's screen sector alone employs over 12,000 people and is on track to add £1 billion to the economy by 2030/31.

Entry

Requirements
You'll need an HND in Sound Production with a grade A or B in your Graded Unit, or an HND in a related subject.

Applicants with a grade C in the Graded Unit are considered individually, so we'd still encourage you to apply.

Learn

This course builds on your HND to sharpen your technical skills, grow your confidence and get you ready for a career in sound.

You'll develop your production skills across music, sound design and audio production, then shape the course around your ambitions by specialising in areas such as post-production for film and TV. Whether you're into mixing, songwriting, production, audio post or experimental sound, there's room to explore what excites you and build more than one specialism.

Work with performers
You'll collaborate closely with our BA Music Performance students, recording, producing and mixing live musicians just as you would in the industry. It's experience that builds your portfolio and your network before you graduate.

How you'll learn
Much of your time is hands-on. Lectures introduce new ideas, while seminars and small tutorial groups give you space to discuss topics in depth. Practical projects then let you apply what you've learned in realistic industry settings.

Outside scheduled classes, you'll have extended access to our recording studios for independent projects, research and group work, supported by online resources and guidance from experienced staff. It's your chance to put in the studio hours that make the difference.
